Show Jumping: Germany are World Champions - Steve Guerdat of Switzerland wins the individual title
The German team, led by national coach Otto Becker and comprising Marcus Ehning on Coolio, Daniel Deußer on Otello de Guldenboom, Sophie Hinners on Iron Dames Singclair and Richard Vogel on United Touch S, comfortably secured the gold medal with just 4.48 points, ahead of the teams from Belgium with 11.69 points and Great Britain with 12.98 points. This means the German team has also secured direct qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In the individual competition, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat secured gold on Dynamix de Belheme, ahead of Belgium’s Thibeaut Spits on Impress-K van’t Kattenheye Z and Britain’s Harry Charles on LT Holst Freda. Daniel Deußer finished the final in sixth place as the top German rider, just ahead of his team-mate Marcus Ehning in seventh; Sophie Hinners finished her first World Championships in a superb ninth place, as the second-best woman in the competition. Favourites Triumph in the Four-in-Hand: The Netherlands secure Team Gold, whilst the individual Title goes to Australia's Boyd Exel
The World Championship title in pair driving went to the highly successful team from the Netherlands (315.13) for the 13th time in Aachen. Silver went to the team from Australia (317.25), which, having only two riders, had to compete without a discard. Bronze went to the riders from Belgium (325.52) – just ahead of the German team in a superb fourth place. The individual title was won by the Australian Boyd Exel (his eighth world title), ahead of the Belgian Dries Degrieck and the American Chester Weber. Anna Sandmann finished the competition in 6th place, the best result among the German competitors. Congratulations!

The German para-dressage riders have secured the World Championship Silver Medal as well as three further Medals in the Freestyle
The German para-dressage riders secured silver in the team competition, finishing behind the new world champions from the USA and ahead of the team from the Netherlands. In the concluding freestyle, the German team also claimed another silver and two bronze medals. Heidemarie Dresing secured bronze in the freestyle in the Grade II class with her mare Poesie. Helen Brandt, competing in Grade IV, secured bronze with her horse Vulkan Vegas IB. Finally, reigning European champion Regine Mispelkamp, riding her horse Highlander Delight’s in the Grade V freestyle, managed to secure silver in the individual standings after having already won bronze. The German para-dressage riders thus conclude the World Championships with a team silver, one individual gold, two individual silvers and three individual bronzes. Congratulations!

Medal haul complete – silver and bronze for the German para-dressage team, silver for the Netherlands
Anna-Lena Niehues secured the second individual medal for the German para-dressage team in the Grade IV class with her Westphalian mare Vive L’Amour (74.630%), finishing just behind Kate Shoemaker (USA, 78.889%) and ahead of Nicola Naylor (GBR, 73.861%). In the Grade V class, gold went to Sophie Wells (GBR, 74.949%), silver to Britney de Jong from the Netherlands (73.154%) and bronze to Regine Mispelkamp from Germany (72.974%), who thus completed the set of medals for the German team.
The show jumpers also had a successful day, completing the first round of the Nations Cup with four clear rounds. They therefore remain in first place in the team standings ahead of the final round – in which the top 10 teams and the top 60 individual riders will compete – ahead of the teams from the USA and Belgium. In the individual standings, Britain’s Scott Brash currently leads ahead of Sophie Hinners (GER), followed by Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Daniel Deusser (GER), who are tied for third place.
The four-in-hand teams have also begun their bid for the coveted World Championship medals with the dressage test.

Gold for Heidemarie Dresing and a strong Start for the German Show Jumpers
The German para-dressage team has got off to a golden start at the World Championships in Aachen: As the first German rider to compete, Heidemarie Dresing lived up to her role as favourite and, with a score of 75.483 %, secured her first World Championship title – having already won gold at last year’s EC – riding the Oldenburg mare Poesie, ahead of the Danish European Championship runner-up Katrine Kristensen (75.31 %) and the British rider Jemima Green (75.241 %).
The German show jumping team also put in an impressive performance in the opening round: they finished the speed round as the top team (3.48 points), ahead of the Belgians (3.69) and the Americans (4.85), a result that counts towards the team and individual standings.

Michael Jung and fischerChipmunk are World Champions - Germany takes Silver
At Aachen’s Soers, three-time individual Olympic champion Michael Jung, riding fischerChipmunk, was crowned World Eventing Champion for the second time since 2010 after a clear round in the thrilling final show jumping round, ahead of the two British riders Rosalind Canter on Lordships Graffalo and Laura Collet on London 52.In the team competition, there was no getting past the reigning Olympic champions from Great Britain – but the German team, comprising Michael Jung, Julia Krajewski on Uelzener’s Nickel, Malin Hansen-Hotopp on Carlitos Quidditch K and Libussa Lübbeke on Caramia FRH, comfortably secured the runner-up spot in the World Championships ahead of the US team. German individual rider Christoph Wahler finished the World Championships in an impressive 16th place in the overall standings. Congratulations!

German vaulters are the most successful nation
Following the women’s and group competitions, Germany also won the team event at the World Championships on home soil in Aachen (9.103), ahead of France (8.996) and Italy (8.771). In this competition, two individual vaulters and the team compete once again. Competing for Germany were the gold-medal-winning team from VV Köln-Dünnwald, as well as the newly crowned world champion Alice Layher and world silver medallist Kathrin Meyer. Earlier, the duo of Kimberly Hyks and Jannik Heiland managed to secure the bronze medal in the Pas de Deux final following a dramatic comeback, finishing behind the duos from France (Garies/Thibaut) and Italy (Greggio/Zanella). The German vaulting team thus concludes the World Championships as the most successful nation, with a total of seven medals: three gold, one silver and three bronze. Congratulations!

Bronze for Isabell Werth and Wendy in the Freestyle
Following World Championship gold with the German dressage team, Isabell Werth has now secured bronze in the freestyle. The World Championship title in the Grand Prix freestyle was once again claimed by Britain’s Charlotte Fry on Glamourdale (91.907 per cent), ahead of Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour on her Hanoverian mare Mount St. John Freestyle (91.236 per cent). Marieke von der Putten and Zantana RS2 Old N.O.P. (Netherlands) achieved a fantastic 6th place, whilst Raphael Netz and Great Escape Camelot (Germany) once again surpassed themselves to finish eighth in a world-class field. Congratulations!

A Shower of Medals for the German Vaulters
In the women’s individual event, Germany achieved a hat-trick – gold for Alice Layher, silver went to Kathrin Meyer and bronze was secured by Annemie Szemes… In the men’s event, victory went to France’s Quentin Jabet, ahead of Sam Dos Santos from the Netherlands, who secured the silver medal, whilst Bela Lehnen from Germany won bronze, adding another medal to the German team’s tally. The favourites, Team Norka, also secured gold ahead of the teams from France and Austria. Congratulations!

Individual Bronze for Katharina Hemmer in the Grand Prix Special
The first individual medals at the 2026 World Championships were awarded in the Grand Prix Special, and it remained thrilling right until the end. Germany’s Katharina Hemmer was the last rider to enter the Aachen stadium on her Oldenburg horse Denoix PCH, and she delivered: a ride packed with highlights secured her the bronze medal with a score of 80.866 per cent at her first World Championships. Victory went to the reigning world champions, Charlotte Fry and Glamourdale (82.295%) from Great Britain, whilst silver went to the world number one, Catherine Laudrup Dufour, riding Mount St. John Freestyle from Denmark (80.927%).

The first Gold Medal goes to Germany
After a thrilling final on the second day of dressage, the result is clear: The German dressage team has secured the gold medal ahead of the teams from Great Britain and Denmark — just as it did 20 years ago at the 2006 World Championships in Aachen. Katharina Hemmer and Denoix PCH set a personal best in the Grand Prix, and Isabell Werth, riding last, secured the victory for the German team with 79.876 points, as well as her 10th World Championship title. Congratulations to all the winners and medalists!

German Dressage Team on Track for Gold after Day 1
Even before the opening ceremony began, the competition for the dressage team medals had already started. After two successful opening performances by Raphael Netz and Frederic Wandres, the German team- as well as Frederic Wandres in the individual standings - is in the lead after the first day. But the other teams have also delivered strong performances, and it looks like it will be a close contest. The medals will be decided on August 12, 2026, at the Soers in Aachen!
